How this free dosha quiz works
There are eight questions, one at a time, and each answer leans towards Vata, Pitta or Kapha. The questions ask about:
- your natural body frame
- your usual skin
- appetite and digestion
- sleep
- how you respond under pressure
- how your energy moves through the day
- the weather that bothers you most
- how you learn and remember
At the end you see which dosha themes your answers grouped around, with links to read more. There is no sign-up and no email step, and the result appears straight away.
The three doshas in brief
Ayurveda describes three doshas, each a pairing of two of the five great elements (panchamahabhuta). Everyone holds all three in their own proportion. The tridosha guide explains the idea in full.
Vata
air + ether
The principle of movement. Classical texts describe its qualities as dry, light, cold, rough, subtle and mobile, and link it to breath, circulation and the flow of thought.
Pitta
fire + water
The principle of transformation. Its qualities are described as hot, sharp, slightly oily and intense, and it is linked to digestion, metabolism and the sharpness of the intellect.
Kapha
earth + water
The principle of structure. Its qualities are described as heavy, slow, cool, soft, oily and stable, and it is linked to the body's tissues, fluids, strength and steadiness.
Questions people ask
- Is this dosha quiz free?
- Yes. It is free, takes about two minutes, and needs no account, email address or phone number.
- Where is my result kept?
- Your answers and result stay in your own browser, so the site can show your dosha theme on later visits; clearing the site's data removes them. We record only an anonymous note that a quiz was completed and which dosha label led, never your answers (see the privacy page).
- How accurate is an online dosha quiz?
- Treat it as a starting point for learning, not an assessment. In Ayurveda, a person's constitution (prakriti) is assessed by a qualified practitioner through a detailed history and examination, which eight multiple-choice questions cannot replace.
- Can my dosha change?
- Ayurveda separates prakriti, the constitution you are born with, from vikriti, your present state. Prakriti is described as stable; vikriti shifts with season, age, food, routine and circumstances, which is why answers can differ from one month to the next.
- What should I do with my result?
- Use it to explore: read about your leading dosha, then the daily routine (dinacharya) and seasonal routine (ritucharya) guides. For any health concern, speak to a qualified doctor or Ayurvedic physician.
