Privacy

The short version

• We record no name, no email, no phone, no address from browsing the site.
• We never sell or share browsing data, and we do not run third-party ad scripts on this site.
• The only thing we keep is an anonymous, randomly-generated session id plus basic context (which page, how you arrived) — so we can learn which content is useful.
• Your dosha-quiz result, request list, wishlist and recently-viewed items live in your own browser, not in our records.

What we collect, and why

When you visit Veda Roots, the site sends a few lightweight, anonymous signals to our own server so we can understand what is working — for example, which articles people read, which products they look at, and how they found us. This is the same kind of first-party measurement a publisher does by noticing which catalog sections are useful.

The specific events recorded are:

• page views and product views — which pages and products get attention;
• search terms typed on the site — so we can improve catalog coverage and write about what people are actually looking for;
• add to request list (the internal add_to_cart event name) — product id and quantity, without a name or buyer identity;
• request-list review (the internal begin_checkout event name) — item count and subtotal, without request-list contents or buyer identity;
• order-request start — whether WhatsApp, email or copy was chosen, item count, estimated totals, offer code and campaign source; never the message, request-list contents or customer details;
• availability-request start — whether a WhatsApp or email link was opened and which on-site request surface it came from; never the message, requested product, email address or other customer details;
• share action — whether the native share sheet or copy-link fallback completed, without recording who received it;
• quiz completion — only your primary/secondary dosha label (e.g. “Vata-Pitta”), never your answers;
• how you arrived — if a link carried standard utm_ campaign tags, or the domain you came from (the host only, never the full link or any query that might contain personal details);
• coarse context — the country and state your connection appears to come from (looked up by our hosting provider; the IP address itself is never read or kept), whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, and, if you opened the link inside an app such as Instagram or WhatsApp, which app.

Each of these is attached only to a random anonymous id generated in your browser. There is nothing in it that points to you personally.

Order and availability messages you send us on WhatsApp or by email end with a short reference such as VR-1A2B3C4D: the first characters of that anonymous id. You can see it, and delete it, before you send. If you order, the shop notes it in its own order record so the order can be matched to the visit that led to it; the website itself still never receives your name, number or message.

What we deliberately do not collect

• No advertising or analytics SDKs from third parties (no Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar tags on this site);
• No cross-site tracking cookies;
• No IP addresses stored with your events;
• No browser fingerprinting;
• No your-name, email, or account data tied to browsing behaviour;
• No recording of the full referring URL — only the referring domain, to avoid capturing anything personal that might sit in a link.

What stays on your device

Some conveniences are stored only in your own browser’s local storage, under Veda Roots’s origin. They never leave your device and are not sent to our server:

• your dosha-quiz result;
• your request list, wishlist and recently-viewed products;
• your anonymous session id and first-touch attribution, so returning visits stay credited to the campaign that brought you.

Clearing your browser’s site data for Veda Roots removes all of the above instantly.

Your choices

Because we use no third-party tracking cookies, there is no cookie banner to manage and no ad networks to opt out of here. If you would still rather not be counted in our anonymous, first-party measures, you can:

• use your browser’s private/incognito mode;
• enable “prevent cross-site tracking” / strict tracking protection in your browser (our first-party beacons are non-essential and the site works fully without them);
• block /api/events in a content blocker — the site is fully functional without it.

None of these affect your ability to browse the catalog, read, or take the quiz.

About orders and contact

Anything you choose to share when sending a request or contacting us is handled separately and only as needed to evaluate and reply to that request. If both sides later agree to an order, any details shared for fulfilment are handled in that separate exchange. A WhatsApp message is sent from your own WhatsApp and handled there under WhatsApp's own privacy terms; the website only notes that the link was opened. This page covers browsing measurement only, not request correspondence.

How long we keep it

Anonymous browsing events are stored in the site’s own database (a managed database service we use through our hosting provider) and copied to an offline archive. They are kept only as long as useful for understanding the site’s performance over time, and are aggregated before any review. Because they carry no personal identifier, they cannot be traced back to an individual.
